Expatriate LE 6 Visa Processing Officer
The Embassy of Australia is seeking expressions of interest from suitably qualified persons to fill the position of Expatriate Visa Processing Officer at the Department of Immigration and Citizenship. The position requires excellent written and oral English language skills and will be offered at the Expatriate LE6 level. Annual salary of this position is approximately CNY239,677. The position is full-time and is open to those who hold, or are able to obtain, an Australian Security Clearance only. Please consult the attached Selection Criteria and Duty Statement for details.

Expatriate LE6 –Visa Processing Officer, Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC), Australian Embassy Beijing – Position Number 9333
Selection Criteria:
- Demonstrated record of providing excellent client service to people from a diverse range of backgrounds.
- Has highly developed written and spoken English language skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively, cooperatively and flexibly in a team environment, demonstrate initiative, respond to priorities and meet deadlines.
- Demonstrated ability to undertake clerical and administrative work using a computer system, including preparing and maintaining records within such systems.
- Has, or has an ability to quickly obtain, a sound understanding of DIAC legislation and policy and an ability to interpret and apply both in relation to making decisions on applications for entry to Australia, including more complex applications.
- Holds, or is able to obtain, an Australian Security Clearance.
Desirable Criteria:
Ability to communicate effectively orally in Chinese.
Duty Statement:
- Work within a team to deliver DIAC services to high standards of client service, efficiency and integrity, including through assessing and deciding more complex applications for entry to Australia and undertaking face to face interviews with clients.
- Prepare correspondence and decision records in relation to applications to enter Australia in line with legislative and departmental requirements.
- Respond to more complex client enquiries, including from Australian stakeholders, and prepare responses to written correspondence from clients and stakeholders.
- Participate in the work of other DIAC teams in the Embassy as requested.
- Under limited direction undertake clerical and administrative work using computerised systems, including in relation to processing and deciding applications for entry to Australia lodged with DIAC.
- Organise workloads to complete allocated tasks in a timely manner.
