Australian Federal Police Liaison Office
Project Manager, AFP (Part-time), LE7
The Australian Federal Police is looking for a motivated person to fill the Project Manager position in the Beijing Liaison Office. The position is open to suitably qualified foreign nationals only and is to be filled on a part-time basis, 3 to 4 days per week. The working hours are flexible and to be negotiated with the successful applicant. The current hourly rate for an LE7 position is Rmb137.2747.
The position is a security designated position and employment is dependent on completing a security assessment and obtaining an appropriate Australian security clearance.
The position will become available in late June/early July 2010.

JOB DESCRIPTION
1. Under general direction of the Manager, provide high level administrative support to the Australian Federal Police Liaison Office including:
• Manage the AFP’s capacity building projects in China;
• Organise all travel and administrative arrangements for capacity building project activities;
• Liaise with the Ministry of Public Security on capacity building projects and training assistance;
• Undertake visits to AFP capacity building projects, when required;
• Prepare reports on a range of aspects of AFP capacity building projects;
• Prepare correspondence and reports as required;
• Provide record management support, including filing, photocopying and distribution of materials; and
• Provide assistance with other administrative matters as required.
2. Maintain and interrogate computerised databases and spreadsheets.
3. Provide support for Ministerial and other visits: liaising with other staff within the Embassy, making appointments for visitors, organising travel and other arrangements for visitors, taking minutes, and typing records of conversations.
4. Under general direction, undertake research tasks, scan newspapers and assist with particular projects and ad hoc tasks.
SELECTION CRITERIA

A. Capacity to undertake clerical/administrative duties and manage small projects.
B. Ability to organise workloads so as to achieve objectives thoroughly and effectively.
C. An appreciation of the more significant issues in the law enforcement relationship between Australia and China, including a general understanding of the roles and functions of the Australian Federal Police.
D. A basic understanding of management information systems and their applications in the clerical/administrative context.
E. Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written English. Chinese skills are an advantage.
F. Interpersonal skills, including an ability to liaise at high level with senior representatives of other and host Governments, and with Embassy colleagues. Flexibility and adaptability.
G. Australian citizen or other national capable of acquiring relevant security clearance.
