WORK AND HOLIDAY VISA ALERT
We recognise that due to Australia’s current travel ban, Work and Holiday visa (WHV) holders who are outside Australia may not be able to enter before their visa ceases.
Unfortunately it is not possible for WHV’s to be extended under Australia’s current legislation.
There are no legislative provisions for WHM visa holders to freeze or extend a WHM visa that is in effect or a WHM visa that has been granted but is yet to be activated.
The age requirements to apply for a WHM visa remain unchanged. The age range eligibility for WHM visa holders cannot be increased.
If your visa ceases and you still wish to visit Australian on a WHV visa, you will need to lodge a new application, re-submit all relevant documentation and satisfy all requirements for the grant of the visa. In China, this means you will have to make an appointment when Australia’s travel restrictions are lifted and the next tranche is announced on the Australian Embassy website and social media accounts.
Further Information for visa holders is available on the Department’s website https://covid19.homeaffairs.gov.au/. This information will be updated as the Government’s response to COVID-19 evolves. See also: COVID-19 FAQs.
