Where to apply

Depending on the type of visa you are applying for, applications can be submitted online, to your nearest AVAC or (in limited circumstances only) to the Australian Visa Office in Guangzhou.  See: Where to Submit a Visa Application 


Applying online

The Department of Home Affairs encourages clients to use online services where available. People’s Republic of China (PRC) passport holders outside Australia can currently apply for most visa subclasses online through the Department's ImmiAccount portal.

Applying at the Australian Visa Application Centre (AVAC)

If you are not able to submit an online application, you can submit your application in person or by mail to an AVAC. All applications submitted at an AVAC will be assessed and decided by the Department of Home Affairs. Staff at an AVAC will have no involvement in the decision-making process nor knowledge of the application outcome.

Applications can be sent by mail or courier. In-person applications are accepted by appointment only.
