“2010留学澳大利亚”系列活动正式启动
The Australian Ambassador to China, Dr Geoff Raby, welcomed the launch of the Study in Australia 2010 initiative in Beijing today.
澳大利亚驻华大使芮捷锐博士对“2010留学澳大利亚”系列活动的正式启动表示欢迎。
“Australia’s education engagement with China has been one of the foundations of our relationship. The flows of students and academics in both directions have contributed significantly to the development of our economies and our culture.” the Ambassador said.
“澳大利亚和中国在教育方面的交流与合作是构成两国关系的重要基石之一。两国间学生和学者间的双边往来对澳大利亚的经济和文化的发展做出了突出的贡献。”大使先生谈到。
“Although education has historically fared well during difficult economic times, and Australia’s international enrolments remain strong in 2009, the Australian Government is keen that its highly regarded international education sector is provided with an extra level of support, especially over the next 6–12 months when crucial decisions are being taken by parents, students and international scholarship granting bodies.” Dr Raby said.
“尽管教育行业在历史上的经济危机时期一直表现良好, 2009年度澳大利亚的国际学生注册总数也依然保持上升趋势,澳大利亚政府仍然重视对其广受盛誉的国际教育行业,尤其在未来6-12个月内提供更多的支持。而广大家长、学生和提供国际奖学金的机构在这段时间内正作出重要的决策。” 芮捷锐大使说到。
Announced on 19 March 2009 by Australia’s Deputy Prime Minister, the Hon Julia Gillard MP, Study in Australia 2010 encompasses four themes:
澳大利亚副总理Julia Gillard议员于2009年3月19日宣布启动“2010留学澳大利亚”系列活动。活动将围绕以下4个主题展开:
• developing materials and best practice guidelines for student welfare and support;
• showcasing the excellence of Australia’s education and research;
• promoting Australia's international education reputation in key markets; and
• providing strategic advice and analysis on market trends and opportunities to Australia’s international education sector.

The launch of the Study in Australia 2010 initiative in Beijing opened a two day workshop organised by Australian Education International for education agents. The workshop involves briefings on student trends and visa issues as well as a one day training program developed by an Australian training provider (PIER International Education Services Ltd) with the support of the Australian Government. The two day workshops are also held in Guangzhou and Shanghai.
澳大利亚驻华大使馆在北京举办的为期两天的留学中介研讨会拉开了“2010留学澳大利亚”在华系列活动的序幕。研讨会内容丰富,除介绍中国学生赴澳留学趋势和学生签证信息外,还包括为期一天的EATC课程介绍和指导,该课程由澳大利亚非盈利性培训机构 — 国际教育服务公司负责开发,并得到了澳大利亚政府的大力资助。广州和上海也分别举办内容相同、为期两天的研讨会。
“Essentially, the Study in Australia 2010 campaign seeks to ensure that Australia continues to be a highly recognised, highly regarded and leading destination for international students. We recognise the importance that education agents make through their counselling services for students and their parents and aim to ensure that they continue to provide the best service possible.”

Study in Australia 2010 is an Australian Government initiative to raise the profile and reinforce the reputation of Australia’s universities and other international education and training providers in key markets around the world as students and parents decide on their study options for 2010.

The initiative was announced by Australia’s Deputy Prime Minister, the Hon Julia Gillard MP, on 19 March 2009 following consultation with representatives from all sectors of Australia’s international education industry.

Study in Australia 2010 will give a fresh look and feel to the established Study in Australia campaign which has been running successfully around the world for many years. It will incorporate messages designed to take into account the changing perceptions of study options facing parents and students in the global economic downturn. It will encompass a suite of activities including briefings for Australia’s international education sector, publications, research, and workshops nationally and in the Study in Australia 2010 priority markets.

Specific activities within the Study in Australia 2010 measures will include:

- additional funding for targeted promotional activities by AEI offices in the top six source countries (China and Hong Kong, India, South Korea, Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand) including with international media, and alumni activities;

- a series of national briefings and engagement in industry conferences– to consult with Australia’s international education and training sector on the best ways of promoting education in Australia during the economic downturn;

Study in Australia 2010 is designed around four key themes:

In which countries will Study in Australia 2010 be implemented?

Overseas students in Australia are drawn from around 200 countries worldwide, but the top six markets account for approximately 60% of enrolments and these markets are crucial to the success of Australia’s international education sector over the next couple of years. The 2010 drive is tightly targeted to respond to current challenges and is initially focused on the top six source markets for Australia. But AEI will continue to strongly engage through its extensive network and support of the sector into over 25 countries and AEI posts in all countries will be developing their own plans for Study in Australia 2010.
