Globalization and Imagination:
The 13th International Conference of Australian Studies in China
July 2012
Xihua University
Scholars are invited to participate in the 13th International Conference of Australian Studies in China, which will be held by Xihua University between 6 and 8 July 2012. The Conference is to be sponsored by the Australia China Council under Australia’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade and supported by the National Association of Australian Studies in China.
The theme of the conference is Globalization and Imagination. 2012 will mark the 40th anniversary of the restoration of diplomatic relations between China and Australia. The past four decades have witnessed a burgeoning globalization trend in the world, which has tremendously changed almost every nation’s imagination of themselves and others. The theme of this conference is deliberately broad in scope and aims to generate an open space for participants to share their thoughts on Australia’s national imagination and the new developments, challenges and opportunities in China and Australia’s perception on each other. We believe such a space for dialogues will strengthen mutual understanding and trust between the peoples of China and Australia, and promote further development of Australian Studies in China.
The Conference welcomes papers discussing topics in the following areas:
- Australian history;
- Australian literature;
- Australian culture and media;
- Sino-Australian relationship and Australian foreign relations;
- Australian politics;
- Australian economy;
- Indigenous studies;
- Ethnic relations in Australia;
- Australian language and culture
- Political, economic, cultural and education exchanges and cooperation between China and Australia;
