1. Information – Transit Visa

Introduction
Citizens of the People's Republic of China are not able to transit Australia without a visa. Citizens of other countries should check http://www.immi.gov.au/visitors/transit/no-visa.htm to see if they are eligible to transit without a visa.
A Transit Visa is for travellers who intend to remain in Australia no longer than 72 hours and can demonstrate that the principal purpose of entering Australia is either to (i) pass through Australia in transit to another country, or (ii) pass through Australia to join a vessel as a crew member, should apply for a transit visa.
If a traveller intends a "stopover" in Australia on the way to another country, they should apply for the appropriate visa, such as a Tourist Visa.
Please note: the standard processing time for Transit visa applications lodged in China is 5 working days.
