The Australian Embassy Beijing seeks applications from suitably qualified persons to fill the position of Media and Research Officer (LE4) with Department of Education and Training.

About the position

As part of a small team, the Media and Research Officer is responsible for coordinating the education section’s communications and for conducting research and analysis on policy and trends impacting on Australian education and training cooperation with China.

 

The key responsibilities of the position include (but not limited to):

  • Conduct research and analysis on education policy developments and trends in China
  • Translate and interpret Chinese language statements and reports issued by Chinese government and other education agencies in China for internal and public dissemination
  • Support the maintenance of high quality briefing materials on China’s education system and key partnerships with Australia 
  • Assist in the preparation of high quality and relevant policy alerts for Australian stakeholders to support them to sustainably grow their partnerships with China
  • Translate information on Australian education and training policy developments for Chinese audiences
  • Develop relationships and interact with media representatives in China with a view to informing public discussion of Australian government education and training-related policy
  • Manage stakeholder facing communications, including micro-blog and quarterly newsletter, and respond to routine enquiries
  • Promote Endeavour scholarships and exchange opportunities through Chinese language media
  • Work closely with the Embassy public affairs team to present a coherent narrative which maintains and builds on Australia’s reputation for high quality education and training
